Silent Slaughter

The modernization of the compound bow has come a long way in the past five years. The Mathews Z7 has taken the hunting world to a new level. The features of the bow are part of the new generation of compounds. Parallel limb design reduces the recoil and helps eliminate vibration throughout the bow. Mathew’s shooters have found out that the harmonic dampening system has been true to all older model Mathews, but the Z7 has taken it to a whole new level with the harmonic stabilizer. All though the three ounce stabilizer does not seem like much, it reduces vibration up to 75% enhancing performance and shoot ability. The reverse assist roller guard gives superior smoothness to the drawing mechanism. I have also noticed that with the reverse assist roller guard you will never get a slap on the wrist like other bows. Upon release, the string whip lashes back and forth causing vibration, but Mathews has another unique innovation to overcome the whiplash effect. String suppressors are mounted above and below the cam and wheel.  When the bow releases the string connects with the soft rubber suppressors, eliminating the excess string movement after the shot. The string suppressors have a cousin that lies in wait under the grip. The dead end string stop stops the whiplash effect from the center of the bow.   These many features make the Mathews a very smooth drawing and shooting bow, but wait there is more. Mathews has studied natures design, and have found a new riser design. The grid lock riser mimics the shape of a honeycomb, making the riser lighter but stronger. The bare bow weight is 4lbs with an axel-to-axel length of 30” making the bow easy to handle in the field. The IBO rating is 333fps making the Z7 one of the fastest solo cams on the market to date. Speed and maneuverability are needed in the field. Making effortless clean kills are hunter’s goals, and the Z7 continues to do that with the speed and kinetic energy. My first thought when I saw the bow for the first time was, “Wow I cannot wait to shoot that bow.” When I shot the bow for the first time the draw was the smoothest I have ever felt in my life. The shot was 10 times smoother and quieter than any other bow I have shot. The bow handles great, it is very balanced and consistent. The accuracy of the bow is unbelievable, unlike any other bow I have seen. Shot after shot the bow performs great and the arrows fly true. In the field, the Z7 will out preform any other bow on the market. The maneuverability with the short axel-to-axel length is unbelievable. Lost camo is one of the best camouflages on the market and it is available on the Z7 making this bow invisible. Mathews built the bow with the hunter in mind, and it’s built for the woods. The tuning of the bow was a breeze and most broadheads flew like field tips. The arrows continued to fly one after the other making great groups out to 50 yards. You can say what you want but to have a constant 4-arrow group within 4 inches is very impressive. I have tried with other bows and none could do that. The balance and the flat trajectory give it the ability to preform so well. The flat trajectory also helps when in the woods making long shots through small shooting windows. Z7’s all have the kinetic energy to take down most any animal in the world. The animal will never hear it coming with the speed and quietness of the innovative Z7.  The overall review of the bow has the Mathews Z7 sitting on top of all other compounds.  It is going to be hard to top that one for other bow manufactures and Mathews, but they have impressed us before.
